The I-395 Express Lanes project is an eight-mile extension of the existing I-95 Express Lanes. The project consists of the reconfiguration and reconstruction of the two existing HOV lanes and the addition of a third lane to be used as High Occupancy Toll lanes. C3M is responsible for installing the electrical service sites that will feed the Electronic Toll Collection Systems which includes Closed-Circuit Television Cameras, Thermal Vehicle Detection, and Dynamic Messaging Signs throughout the high occupancy toll lanes.
The scope of work includes the installation of standard electrical service for roadside equipment applications. C3M installed custom built electrical equipment cabinets that include circuit breakers with current sensors, phase monitor relays, and alarm contacts. The service sites include a generator backup system that includes a 500-Gallon liquid propane tank, automatic transfer switch, remote monitoring, and a communication cabinet. The communication cabinets contain the remote monitoring, ethernet switches, and fiber optic patch panels to monitor the entire service site from the I-95 Express Lanes Operations Center. If there is power loss at the service site, the operations center will be alarmed of the outage and the generator back up will be activated.
