Sound Transit’s Operations and Maintenance Facility: East in Bellevue, WA will support expansion of the region's light rail system from 20 to nearly 50 miles and 62 to 214 vehicles by 2023. The facility includes Shop, Car Wash, and Maintenance of Way buildings, and a storage yard for up to 96 light rail vehicles (LRV), run around track, with mainline access from the south and future access to the north.
C3M’s work includes a yard and shop TPSS, an overhead contact system (OCS), train control system, LRV monitoring system, and integration with Sound Transit’s SCADA system. This first-of-its-kind application of an vehicle monitoring system to a light rail yard will utilize a network of cameras to track the location of all LRV’s throughout the facility and integrate seamlessly with Sound Transit’s maintenance system. C3M is responsible for final design of the train control and LRV monitoring systems.
