C3M is deconstructing and reconstructing electrical infrastructure in several WMATA fan shafts. To minimize operational disruption, demolition and installation will occur simultaneously at the start of each fan shaft.
The scope includes removing existing power feeders, electrical equipment, and support systems and then installing new components. C3M will equip the fan shafts with new motor control centers, automatic transfer switches, automatic voltage regulators, and disconnect switches/motor starters. Approximately 30,000 linear feet of new feeders will be installed through the tunnels, linking passenger stations to the fan shafts.
